Seven Dogs Chained in Pennsylvania Woods: Two Dogs Still Left Out there, See Update
Update, March 15, 2010: Two dogs STILL wait for help out in the woods. The black dog and the blind St. Bernard mix. Central Pennsylvania Humane Society will not release the other three dogs to rescue groups. We are demanding to know what they have done with Big Boy, who they claim is unavailable for adoption. He deserves better than life in a chain and death in a shelter.
Update, March 10, 2010: Thayne, the founder of Dogs Deserve Better, is being charged with trespassing for helping these dogs get the care they needed! And what are the abusers getting? Nothing, AGAIN.
Update, March 9, 2010: Update on the 7 dogs off Gypsy Hollow Rd. Tyrone, PA. We believe the chainers took the smaller dogs, the chihuahua and the matted dog. We think the humane officer took the dog with the tumor, the girl with the female problems, and the black and tan dog. There are STILL two dogs on the property: The black dog who rolls over for a belly rub, and the blind St. Bernard mix. He says he was unable to pull these two because it's NOT ILLEGAL to take a dog out to a piece of property where no one lives, there's not even a house or a mailbox, and chain them up for life. This is WRONG! Join our coalition to change the law if you're a Pennsylvania resident at http://www.unchainpadogs.com
How long, Pennsylvania? How long must chained dogs wait for a law protecting them from this abuse? Dogs Deserve Better had heard rumors of dogs chained in the mountains off Gypsy Camp Hollow Rd. in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. An anonymous tip gave us the location, and we went out there to investigate. We found seven dogs, all suffering in a variety of ways: all full of hook and whip worms, one blind dog, one with a big tumor, one severely matted, and the worst one with a major back end physical issue. One dog died during the January cold snap.
Please help us pass a law that will stop these abusers from torturing anymore dogs! Join our coalition today at http://www.unchainpadogs.com. Contact your local Pennsylvania State House Reps and Senators and tell them, NO MORE! The abuse stops here and now.
