RED-GREENVILLE, SC......SWEET 5 y/o LAB mix NEEDS medical Care for severe NEGLECT AND ABUSE....Please, help us help him by donating
RED
RED was picked up by Animal Control of Greenville, SC. He is part of an on-going cruelty investigation where several animals were severely abused and neglected. Red is a five year old lab mix that was almost starved to death. He has no muscle mass and is down to skin and bones. His weight is bad enough but the main problem we are having with this sweet boy is that he is high heartworm positive and his lungs are so full of them that he is throwing up blood and heartworms. He is also covered with sores on all of his joints from laying down on a hard surface. He is still not stable but is much better than he was when he arrived. This poor boy is loaded with parasites that are messing up his bloodcount. We are on-call to give him a transfusion if his blood work does not improve. He needs a lot more than food at this stage of treatment. He is on lots of antibiotics to help us with the infection he has in his body and lots of medicine for the parasites. Red will be with us for a long time. We have started him on a very slow kill to keep the parasites from growing and multiplying. As soon as we get him strong enough, we will begin a more aggressive treatment. He is not a candidate to have the heartworms surgically removed because of his over-all health. Lack of food and proper medical care has put his body into a state of shock. The reason why we have waited a week to post for him is to make sure he had a fighting chance. He is improving but still has a long way to go. He is our sweet Christmas Angel for the holidays. His SPIRIT is improving every day. We think he is worth saving and will make a wonderful addition to any family once he has healed. How anyone could do this to an innocent animal and not realize the pain and suffering the animal is in should be arrested and put away for a long time. They is no excuse for this. People should not have animals if they are not prepared to be their Guardians. We are all they have and they give their all to us every second of the day.
Please, help us help him by donating.
We are a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible.

Arno would like a new home for Christmas but it's looking like he will die before then
Arno is so sad - staff says he has the sweetest personality in the shelter but he is the longest held dog in the shelter and will die there very soon, possibly even in the morning. He has been given many reprieves because staff think he is the greatest - but he seems to be a victim of the Black Dog Syndrome:
People pass over black dogs even though they are just as nice and sweet as any other dog - and they die in shelters in greater numbers. Poor sweet Arno - he even has a donation of $100 to an approved rescue! Please post for Arno and help this poor boy beat the odds.

Arno is so super friendly and has the best personality, he is one
of the nicest dogs in the kennel right now. Sadly since he is black
and mixed breed chances are he will die here. Please help Arno beat
the odds! Big black dogs are BEST he says! (770) 288-PETS.
My I.D. # 10/4-4078 please refer to this number when inquiring about me

AUTUMN SWEET 18 m/o LH Chihuahua needs LEG Amputated.....Please, help us help her by donating
AUTUMN
AUTUMN is an adorable little 18 month old Long-Haired Chihuahua that was dropped off at the shelter in Chester, SC. The owner was very slow in responding to the questions from Animal Control to see what had happened to her. He said she had never been vetted and he didn’t know what had happened to her leg but got really anxious and nervous when they wanted more details about her old injury. He said he didn’t want her anymore and she had to go. Chester gets a lot of animals and if they are not picked up soon they are euthanized. Animals that have injuries or deformities are the first to be put down when there hold time is up. Her time was up. We were contacted by the officer there that begged us to help save her life. We did and now this sweet dog has had to have her leg amputated. The old break had deformed her leg so severely we could not repair it. She was thin and had a flea allergy when we got her. We have her current on all of her shots and have taken care of her flea problem. She is now recovering from her surgery and will be able to run around and play on three legs far better than she ever did with four. Autumn will be up for adoption and will make the most incredible member of the family once she has healed from her amputation.
Please, help us help her by donating.

A dog, emotionally broken, in need of help - National Dogs | Examiner.com
A dog, emotionally broken, in need of help - National Dogs Examiner.com
Harrison County, OH - Being discarded like trash hits some dogs harder than others. Some dogs, when callously thrown aside, seem to take their fate in stride. Others, like Ben, bear emotional scars that render them broken.
Ben was one of the dogs saved by The Gentle Barn last week. Prior to his rescue, Ben was housed at the Harrison County Dog Pound - surrounded by filth, freezing and amidst dogs that were sick and dying.
The suffering was tangible - misery was in the air for all of the dogs at the deplorable facility. Ben, a sensitive dog by sheer virtue of his breed, a German shepherd, suffered more than physical damage - he developed fear and anxiety that is hampering his ability to be placed.

Deaf Animals: Chipley, FL: Labrador Mix in Kill Shelter
Deaf Animals: Chipley, FL: Labrador Mix in Kill Shelter
Matlin is a very sweet and quiet girl. We realize that she is deaf as she would be sleeping and we would call her and walk in with a lot of noise and until we touched her, she did not know we were there. She looks like a small lab and is mostly black with just a white streak on her chest. She appears to be about 8 months old and needs a special home that can work with her handicap.
Maitlin is in Animal Control of West Florida, a rural high kill shelter in Chipley, FL in the panhandle. Transport can be arranged for Saturday 12/11 to most places within Florida. Call Belva the shelter manager at 850-638-2082 IMMEDIATELY if you can rescue or adopt her. Also, please e-mail transport coordinator Sue Bruce at bruces@flcourts.org. 501c3s can pull at no charge. Individuals can adopt for $125, which includes vetting. New phone number for after hours between 12 noon and 5 pm CST: 850-260-6781. (NO EVENING OR SUNDAY CALLS PLEASE). If no answer, leave a message - all calls will be returned.

Help us get Rico to his dream destination in Missouri!
SAN DIEGO, California--December 1, 2010--Rico Suave, whose former owner cut out all of his tongue with a knife, inspires nationwide advocates; two non-profit dog rescue groups 2,000 miles apart join fundraising efforts to build Rico a home for the holidays.
Rico lived in Rosarito, Mexico just over a year ago. There, his previous owner tried training him to fight. Rico regularly ran long distances down the beach with heavy weights chained to his neck.
September 12, 2009, changed Rico's life. While running, Rico overheated and collapsed on the shore. Beach-goers heard Rico's owner scream at him to keep working. They witnessed the owner draw a knife and cut Rico's tongue from his mouth, afterward throwing it into the ocean.
Even Chance, a San Diego-based rescue and advocacy group for the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT), offered Rico a spot in their training-focused foster program after learning of him in July 2010.

California dog survives chemical burns and beating
Bakersfield, CA - A small dog, grieviously wronged by her owner, has been swept into the hearts of animal lovers across the nation.
The dog, a small, white terrier known as Lacie, touched so many with the sharing of just one sad photo - a photo showing the damage to her sweet face. A face seriously wounded by chemical burns.
An outpouring of love enabled the injured dog to receive the surgery necessary to help save her eyesight. The surgery, performed today, was covered by the generous donations that were phoned in to her vet clinic - Coffee Road Animal Hospital.
The Bakersfield Police have arrested the man that they believe to be responsible for Lacie's injuries. The man, Robert Gonzales, is reported to be Lacie's owner. Gonzales has been charged with animal cruelty.
It has been reported that Gonzales tied Lacie up, sprayed bleach in her face, and beat her with a golf club. It's amazing that a small dog could survive such an attack
