COMUNICACIÓN IMPORTANTE.
De nuevo estamos saturados. Tenemos actualmente en residencia unos 50 animales, entre los apadrinamientos, animales que se quedaron sin acogida o devueltos de una adopción. ¡Y NO TENEMOS RECURSOS PARA MANTENERLOS A TODOS ELLOS! Hemos sobrepasado nuestra capacidad. De momento, y a falta de socios, nos mantenemos gracias a la aportación de nuestras madrinas, pero esto solo cubre el alojamiento de los animales. Comida, veterinario, higiene,…no tenemos recursos para cubrirlo. Hemos tenido que realizar dos operaciones de mandíbula y varios ingresos a causa de parvovirosis. Nuestra situación es desesperada.
Y para empeorar la situación el zoosanitario está lleno y nosotros no podemos sacar más animales.
Necesitamos urgentemente:
- Madrinas/Padrinos en Calidad de Vida: Aportarán para necesidades básicas como alimentación, consultas veterinarias, vacunas y desparasitaciones, peluquería, etc. Mensualmente se les presentará un resumen de los gastos y facturas.
- Adopciones: tanto para los animales como para los pobres que llevan tanto tiempo esperando en residencia.
- Acogidas: tanto para los animales como para los pobres que llevan tanto tiempo esperando en residencia.
- Donaciones: Con ellas contribuiremos a la Calidad de Vida de nuestros animales (necesidades básicas como alimentación, consultas veterinarias, vacunas y desparasitaciones, peluquería, etc.)
Estamos desesperados por la situación. NO PODEMOS SACAR ANIMALES DEL ZOOSANITARIO. Los apadrinamientos se invertirán en Calidad de Vida, hasta que la situación se normalice y podamos volver a llevar animales a la residencia.

Abandoned dogs from ROLDA rescue center needs YOU!
There are twelve (12) paddocks like this one. There are up to 600 rescue dogs who need socializing, medical help, sterilization and food.
Please help with donations of dogfood, dog beds, collars and leashes, blankets, disinfectant, building supplies/painting, fence to build running spaces for the dogs to exercise.

Dear friends,
Late into last night we’ve received an information which left us sleepless because it was about the suffering of a female dog who’s been abandoned near a wood, 8 months ago, but not before being severely beaten. More than that it was told to us that she had puppies but they were killed by that murderer who abandoned her. The most severe thing is that this little one, who we named REGINA, has severe deficiencies in feeding herself! When she’s eating she’s chocking and a terrible cough begins. It is unimaginable how she could survive so many months. Probably only her will to live made her resist.
First thing in the morning we’ve got into the car and drove to that place, which is pretty far from us. We were with a small heart, praying to find her still alive, since her condition was deteriorating for a while now. We’ve reached very hard to that far away place but it worth the effort. REGINA was waiting for us and when she saw us she practically jumped into our arms begging us to take her, which of course we did.
We’ve reached in Arad where we urgently started medical investigations (X-rays, tests and many consultations). The first result is terrifying: in her mouth (in the hard palate) she has a whole communicating with her respiratory system, through which food leftovers reach into her air path which makes her suffocate herself.
We are waiting for more test results (because she’s extremely thin and full of ricinus and other parasites which might produced her also other serious diseases) and she’s about to bare, as urgently as possible, an extremely difficult surgical operation. We kindly ask you to be there for us so together we’ll be able to save REGINA! We thank you from our souls!

Hope was in dire straits, being bred over and over, chained, then surrendered to a shelter where she was caged for months. Hope's time ran out so Holly with DDB rushed to get her into a foster home.
We were told by the shelter staff that Hope got along great with other dogs, only to find out that once she arrived at her foster home, she was not too friendly with the other dogs there.
So Hope is currently in boarding and we only have funding for 8 more days and we must find her a place to go. We are being told by the boarding facility that she seems to only show animal aggression when on a leash. We she is in a run, she pays no mind to the other dogs.
As you can see, Hope needs medical care. We need to have her spayed, heart worm tested, vaccinated, de-wormed, and chipped.
The wounds you see on Hope are self inflicted as we were told by the shelter staff, she was going 'kennel crazy'.
We do not know what Hope's future holds so we are asking for advice and help from the animal advocacy community.
Hope needs to be rehabilitated and treated for her animal aggression. We need either a foster who has experience with dogs like Hope or suggestions for in-house rehabilitation facilities. We can transport!

Chipin for Max ~ Ohio ~ Beautiful Rottie needs fencing, training and vetting ~ Now he will go into the home at last!
Max has been chained here in this mess and Christy with DDB has been working with these people to get him the help he deserves. DDB is going to get him completely vetted, trained and install fencing for him so he can be in the home and get the attention he deserves. Christy is working with a trainer to gain Max's trust and they know that this will take time as they have already spent many hours with him and he is coming along, it takes baby steps and they are being very patient with him. His yard has been straighted up now and we will be adding those new pics when they come in.
Max is going to be fine now, some really great people are dedicated to making his life better and we just need a little help from our supporters as they see it through.
DDB is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. All donations are tax deductible according to IRS guidelines.

From the shelter: They're a bonded pair, so we'd like them to go to rescue and be adopted together. This couple came into the shelter together. They were in a puppy mill until they were 6 years old. A woman got them 2 years ago and because they weren't house trained they kept them in a crate with wee wee pad for the whole two years. A neighbor convinced her to give them up. They stress when they are not together, if one is out of the other's sight.
These two are living outside in a kennel at the shelter. They are indoor dogs who deserve a good life! Can you help them? Please donate to the urgent dog fund.

Opie, luckily arrived on the doorstep of a fellow animal lover and US Marshall dragging his tether, malnourished, and mangey. His sad little face tell a story of years of neglect. But Opie's new life has begun and with your help we can keep him the medical attention he needs.
We took Opie straight to our vet where he was diagnosed with Demodex, internal parasites, and malnourishment. He has been vaccinated, had a skin scrape, several medicated baths, is on Cefpodoximine for infection, is taking Promeris drops for mange, has been de-wormed, micro-chipped, heartworm tested, and put on heartworm preventative. With all of this work already done, we have a big bill to pay. Once Opie is healthy enough, he will be neutered.

Yogi was surrendered to the Carson Shelter on Thursday. His owner told the shelter that Yogi could barely walk as a result of hip dysplasia.
Rather than humanely euthanizing the senior dog - comforting him in his final hours - Yogi's owner abandoned him at a shelter where he will sit alone, on a hard, cement floor, for several days before being euthanized by a stranger.
Yogi will depart this life without the dignity and comfort that his owner owed him. No last special meal, no comforting words from the mouth of his owner...only fear and loneliness.

In Bacau, as you can see the situation is very difficult.the shelters are in ruin...collaboration with the municipality is precarious...they do not quite like people going there....BUT, the good news is that more and more people are getting involved in helping out.There also is a very good co-operation with the environmental association "Iubim Natura - we love nature " and the association "Prieteni necuvantatori - Voiceless friends" BUT...the needs are HUGE...food, medication, vaccines,sterilizations...
Their goal is to be able to have their own shelter, to keep the dogs in a secure and comfortable place, to prepare them for adoptions...and more...
In the city there are also several locations where strays are kept chained...BECAUSE this is the ONLY WAY to keep them SAFE...after being spayed/neutered ( OPS on people's money...) they are released, BUT of course there are complains, then the dogs catchers come...and we know the possible outcome..so, they have to keep them chained ( on long chains of course ) to their doghouses..The GOOD news is that people who love animals...adopt directly from the street:)

ANDA MURGU lives now in a commune ( parish ) not far from Bucharest, FRUMUSANI , because she takes care of almost 140 dogs...many of the dogs living on her property ( wait...she does not live in a mansion, nor a two floors house...look at the photos...having a house with some land in Romania , for ordinary people, is far from having a property for middle class in North America...
She receives in her "refuge" all SOS...Emergencies even from people living in Bucharest, or in the nearby villages...

Dogs Deserve Better takes 45-Day Contract on Michael Vicks former Bad Newz Kennels; Hopes to transform it to the Good Newz Rehab Center for Chained and Penned Dogs!
Dog nonprofit has 45-day contract on property,
taking vote to the public to raise funds for center**
Tipton, PA -- February 4, 2011 -- Dogs Deserve Better, a nonprofit dedicated to ending the cruelty of chaining and penning dogs for life, has taken a 45-day contract on the property that formerly housed Michael Vick's Bad Newz Kennels. The group wants to transform it instead into the Good Newz Rehab Center for Chained and Penned Dogs.
The property was sold by Michael Vick to an investor as soon as the heat started to turn up, and has been sitting vacant ever since.
The organization must come up with a minimum of $595,000 within 45-days to get the center started, and in order to raise funds they are asking for a public vote: should they purchase the property where dogs were not only chained and penned but fought and killed in order to bring light to the darkness and symbolically bring hope full circle, or should they buy property elsewhere and build their rehab center from scratch? All votes are $1, and all money will go to the Rehab Center.
The group is hoping to get votes from 999,999 people.
DDB was the first organization on the scene to come out against chaining and penning of dogs for life. In fact, that remains their sole mission today. The founder, Tamira Thayne, last fall spent 52 days chained to a doghouse (the group spent 54 days in all) on the PA Capitol steps advocating for a law, has been called the Godmother of Anti-Tethering in USA Today, has written or edited three books on chaining and fostering of formerly chained dogs, and has even been arrested for removing a dog who could not stand from a chain, taking him to the vet for treatment, and refusing to return him to the caretakers who left him in such anguish for all those years. The dog never went back to that chain.
DDB has won numerous awards, including first place in the ASPCA/Chase Pet Protector Award, and most recently took seven spots in the 2010 American Dog Magazine Humanitarian Awards, including a first in Rescue Organization Saving Dogs and a first in Voice for Ending the Chaining of Dogs.
DDB's all-volunteer area reps, over 100 nationwide at last count, rescue from chains and pens and rehabilitate at least 400-600 dogs per year, working only through their own homes or a network of foster homes.
DDB founder Thayne says "DDB's purpose is to shed light where formerly only darkness existed. By bringing dogs from a solitary, lonely existence to lives of joy and love, where they live inside the home with their very own family, DDB moves them from a world of sadness to a haven of—to their minds—heavenly proportions.

CAMDEN, SC......SWEET 12 y/o PITBULL chained below a bridge in water, needs Medical Care....Please, help us help him by donating.
CAMDEN, SC.....Sweet ABEL was found by hunters chained up under a bridge in water. It is no telling how long he had been there based on the condition he is in. He is the most distraught looking animal we have seen in a long time. He is emaciated, dehydrated, swollen from advanced heartworms and parasites and unfortunately he also has BABESIA. When we were contacted, we immediately said no because we are just too full and need to have some adoptions of the dogs that have had their surgeries and are ready to go. ABEL was described to me but nothing prepared me for what I saw when I received his pictures. I immediately contacted the shelter and said that YES we would take him. I did not want this poor boy to die in the shelter and he was going to that day. There was no place for him to go, if we didn't take him and he seemed to know that this was the end of the line for him. The sadness and loss of hope in his eyes was just too much to bear. Whatever he had done in his life, he did not deserve the fate he was facing now
