Southwest, VA - URGENT! Foster, Forever or Rescue Needed For Chained Dog

PLEASE CROSSPOST
CONTACT DOGS DESERVE BETTER'S SHANNON AT RESCUE@DOGSDESERVEBETTER.ORG

FOSTER/ADOPTION APPLICATION:  http://dogsdeservebetter.org/adopt.html

We do not yet have a surrender agreement for this dog but are working with Animal Control to get this poor soul out of this situation.  He is not being fed regularly by his owner's and a kind neighbor has been feeding him.  He is very friendly and wants to be pet but it is clear that it hurts him just to be touched.

Transport can be arranged and vetting will be handled by DDB.

I want to reiterate that Dogs Deserve Better is actively working this case to the best of our ability within the bounds of the law.  Once we gain custody of him we MUST have a place for him to go as he will either remain chained until a foster is found or he will be held a kill shelter and we can only hope that a foster will step up before his time is up.  We will not be posting the address at this time to protect the integrity of the case and for the dog's safety.  We currently have an open line of communication with law enforcement and the owner's and do not want to jeopardize that.  The neighbor will be keeping a close watch on the situation.

A dog named Aspen needs a chance - National Dogs | Examiner.com

Annapolis, MD - At just the tender age of two, Aspen has known little, if any kindness, and she is staring in the face of death.
Aspen is sitting in a shelter in Annapolis. Her gaunt body is covered in pressure wounds that developed from laying on hard surfaces covered in filth - more than likely, her own bodily waste.
Despite the neglect that she has clearly suffered, she oozes sweetness. Her body constantly swings from side to side in happiness when a person approaches.
She wants nothing more than to share her love with someone kind enough to accept it.
Aspen isn't the prettiest dog in the shelter. She isn't the healthiest dog in the shelter. But she could be the sweetest.
Despite her loving demeanor, she still may die. Her time has nearly run out and no one has stepped up to offer her a safe haven.
Aspen needs a loving hand, a soft bed, some quality food and more than anything love and compassion.
Aspen has shown no aggressive tendencies towards dogs, or even cats. In fact, when walked through a room of hissing, mewling cats, she merely did what she always does, thumped her happy tail and paid them no attention.
Aspen's pull fee has been sponsored, but she needs someone to offer to foster her.
Anyone interested in helping Aspen out of the shelter - of offering her the gift of life - is asked to email islandpuppyrescue@gmail.com.
If you can't help Aspen directly, please take two seconds out of your day to share her story. If a rescue does not step up in time, Aspen will become another statistic.
She won't be a loved pet that gently passes away after a long, happy life. She will be a dog that died too young because she was abandoned and then killed.
Aspen deserves the chance to be loved. Aspen deserves the opportunity to experience happiness. Aspen deserves to live.

URGENT! Sevierville, TN Buddy needs foster or Furever home ASAP!

PLEASE CROSSPOST
CONTACT DOGS DESERVE BETTER'S MARIE AT ddbrepcoord@dogsdeservebetter.org

FOSTER OR ADOPTION APPLICATION:  http://dogsdeservebetter.org/adopt.html

Buddy is a super sweet young mixed breed, he is UTD on vaccines and neutered. He has been forced out of his yard because they are now "Cat People" I know  ... it's insane, he was just running the streets after they untied him. We got him vetted and he's doing great but his temporary foster must find a place for him to go NOW because she has taken many dogs from high kill shelters and has run out of room.

Please if you can foster Buddy until we can place him in a happy home, you will be rewarded with the love of a great dog!

Baby’s Story
Baby is an 11 year old Samoyed who arrived at the Brooklyn ACC (Animal Care and Control) on February 7, 2011. It is unclear exactly how she came in but it appears it may have been a stray situation or by a concerned neighbor. Due to Baby’s physical, medical and emotional condition, rather than contact the owner via Baby's microchip, the ACC contacted the ASPCA to evaluate her case for cruelty and neglect. The ASPCA declined to further investigate this case and as a result, Baby was picked up by her owner on February 15, 2011 despite the fact that 1) ACC staff believed Baby should not have been released to her owner 2) a Samoyed rescue was willing to pull her through the ACC’s New Hope program and 3) a woman who is very familiar with this breed and had been in contact with the Samoyed rescue was willing to adopt her. This is an injustice.

Based on the information gathered we intend to do whatever possible to make sure Baby is removed from her current environment and offered rehabilitation with an organization or individual that is qualified to evaluate and care for Baby’s specific needs. Our core ‘Team Baby’ is made up of volunteers who have been deeply affected by Baby’s story. We are supported by a larger community that is also dedicated to getting Justice for Baby.
Simply put, we want a wrong righted. We want Baby rescued from what appears to be a life of deprivation.

General the crying dog from Floyd. Co, GA needs YOUR Help! He was too sick to walk out of the shelter!!!!

Dear friends and friends of friends...we need your help. Many people (over 330 comments!) commented on the sad, story of General, the crying dog at the Floyd Co. shelter. Here is his original post:

"his name is GENERAL
OWNER DUMPED - HE'S HEARTBROKEN! CRYING LIKE A CHILD!
0293 American Bulldog Mix Medium Adult Male"
General is a very sick dog!!!!!! He was rescued by the London Sanctuary. He has a foster home waiting for him in Fl.
When he was picked up he was too weak to walk!!  The rescue although not prepared for the extra big expenses here, is working hard to get General better so he can get to Florida to recover with Jan's loving care. We must raise funds to pay for General's medical care.

Please help General get well and finally get all the love he has cried for!!!!

Any amount you can spare....

General was taken to the vet and was in rough condition. Here is his medical info:
"When General was brought into clinic from Floyd, he was to weak to walk or stand. Had to be carried in.
They started out with oral antibiotics, hoping to keep cost down.
He was not eating originally, nor drinking but has begun to eat a little in the last couple of days.
After he threw up, and it was tinged with blood, they put him on injections of antibiotics which is very costly, according to vet
He has had IV injections under the skin to keep him hydrated
After he had diahrea and threw up again on the third day at clinic, they went ahead and ran bloodwork and did chest xray, as they were trying to avoid that because of the expense
Blood test was normal, xray revealed pneumonia
This means he will likely remain on treatment by injections, which is costly
His boarding will not be the cost of normal boarding, this is considered as hospital boarding, which is far more costly
He is expected to be in this type care for another week, maybe more

Chance of his surviving: Very good with the proper treatment. Young, healthy, not emaciated, HW negative, and he was tested for Parvo and it is not Parvo. "

Here is the vet info:
Mt. Berry Animal Hospital
2965 Martha Berry Highway
Rome, Ga. 30165
phone 706-232-0364
Will not take donations, but anyone who donates can be put on a list and if they call in the clinic, the staff there will give them info on General's condition, and once they have an idea what the charge for General is going to be, the staff will tell anyone on that list that calls in the approximate cost of the treatment.

Here is General's Chip-In:

I have no idea why the link says jakes heartworm treatment. All of General's info is on the chip in link. If you would like to send money to the rescue directly, here is that info as well:
